Equinox sign-ups will open later this evening! The tag sets are locked in and ready to browse: main tag set, safety fandom tag set.
When deciding on fandoms to request/offer, remember: Requests must contain at least 4 unique franchises and at least 1 safety fandom. Offers must contain at least 4 unique franchises (these can be the same as your requests). "Multi-Fandom" can be used for requests, but can't be offered, as it isn't used for matching. Full info on how to sign up here.
There are a lot of fandoms in the tag sets this year where only a limited amount of the source canon qualifies for this season's theme. As a reminder, only the part of the source that fits the theme is eligible for Fall Equinox. Here are some examples drawn from the tag sets:
These are just a handful of examples meant to communicate the key point: keep your vids on theme! We don't want to have to do deep analysis on your vids to figure out whether or not they're good faith efforts at meeting the theme; a lot of this exchange runs on the honor system. But if you request or submit something that obviously does not fit the theme, we're probably going to bounce that back to you.
If you're requesting or vidding a source and need clarification which parts of canon do or don't qualify, feel free to email us at equinoxvids@gmail.com.

There are a lot of fandoms in the tag sets this year where only a limited amount of the source canon qualifies for this season's theme. As a reminder, only the part of the source that fits the theme is eligible for Fall Equinox. Here are some examples drawn from the tag sets:
- 9-1-1, 9-1-1 Lone Star, due South, Slings & Arrows: All of these are examples of sources that were approved because they have canon ghosts/hauntings. Anything involving canon ghosts or incidents that arguably-in-canon could be ghosts counts. That doesn't mean you can request or make a vid about Hen going to med school or Vecchio's car or Darren Nichols: none of those things involve ghost plots.
- Black Mirror, The Twilight Zone: For anthology sources, you should only be using the individual stories that fit the theme – e.g., "San Junipero" counts, "Striking Vipers" does not count.
- Doctor Who (2005): Characters with key storylines about coming back from the dead like Jack Harkness, Rory Williams, and Ashildr count; things like "our digital ghosts were uploaded into the Afterlife Library" count.
- Game of Thrones: Beric Dondarrion, Jon Snow, wights: on theme! Jaime Loves Brienne: not on theme. (This is also an example of a source that has a lot of "is it reincarnation or is it Memorex" material in it, and we leave that canon question up to you.)
- Star Wars: Force ghosts count; general vids about the Force do not count. "Somehow, Palpatine returned" counts; vids about Chewbacca getting up to shenanigans do not count.
- Supernatural: A lot here qualifies: vampires, ghosts, angels, demons, the realms of the afterlife, actual God, that time Sam Came Back Wrong, that time Dean Came Back Wrong, that time Mary Came Back Exactly Right, etc. – but there's still a ton of unrelated material in this giant source. If you make a vid about how Charlie is great and nothing bad ever happened to her, that probably does not fit the theme.
- The Untamed: This source qualifies on "resurrection / reanimation of the dead" grounds. Wei Wuxian counts; Wen Ning counts; any characters involved in resurrecting or reanimating the dead count. Vid topics like "Lan Wangji loves bunnies" or "Jin Guangyao is just misunderstood" do not count.
But this is an example of a source that is likely to be tricky: regeneration does not count as the Doctor doesn't actually die; time being rewritten doesn't inherently count as 99% of Who timeline revisions aren't telling stories about what happens after you come back from the dead; Vincent and the Doctor-esque time travel to periods after one's own death do not count, as the character is very much still alive in them. When evaluating what parts of a canon count, remember that the theme centers on what happens post-mortem, so if the character in question has not actually died at the point they're at in their own story, that probably doesn't fit the theme.
