Voting is open for the Spring Equinox 2017 theme!
You can vote on the theme here. (Poll URL: https://goo.gl/forms/brAOkvUUkr1dNFuQ2)
Voting closes on Friday, September 9th at 11:59PM UTC.
For the first exchange season, we decided to limit themes to those based on sources, rather than character type / pairing type / etc.; that won't always be the case, but the the first time out we wanted to be able to include as many characters/pairings as possible. The four potential themes for spring are:
- Based on Books
- Folklore, Fairy Tales, Legends & Mythology
- Sources from the 1990s
- Vids in Space
Full descriptions of the sources are on the poll page, with examples of fandoms each theme could include. You can also read them under the cut:
*
Based on Books: Sources adapted from books, or vids for book fandoms. (Comic books, graphic novels, and manga will have their own theme at a later time, so those aren't included under this umbrella.) Includes adapted sources such as Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, Sherlock, Outlander, Hannibal, and Lord of the Rings, and direct book sources such as Captive Prince and The Raven Cycle.
*
Folklore, Fairy Tales, Legends & Mythology: Sources in any format based on (or incorporating elements of) the folklore, fairy tales, legends and/or mythology of any tradition/culture. Includes sources such as Merlin, Naruto, Once Upon a Time, Kings, Fruits Basket, Wonder Woman, and Supernatural.
*
Sources from the 1990s: Sources in any format produced/released in the 1990s. Ongoing continuities such as comic books, TV shows, book series, and film franchises that began pre-90s or went on post-90s count, but vids should focus on their 1990s material. (TV seasons have a little flexibility to them, e.g. a TV season 1989-1990 or 1999-2000 is fine.) Includes sources such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Star Trek: TNG / DS9 / Voyager, due South, Xena: Warrior Princess, The X-Files, and Highlander.
*
Vids in Space: Sources in any format taking place ~in space~. Anything not taking place on Earth counts, including sources primarily based on alien planets (e.g. The Martian, Stargate: Atlantis, books set on alien planets) or space exploration without much actual space (e.g. Stargate SG-1). Includes sources such as Star Trek, Star Wars, Firefly, Battlestar Galactica, Farscape, and Doctor Who.
